Munich without religion
REALISATION
(01/26)
324 screenshots were merged to create the finished map.
286 open spaces were created by cutting out sacred buildings (as some areas are used by different faiths, the number may differ from the ‘List of sacred buildings in Munich’).
The resulting open spaces were filled with green spaces. The virtual green spaces were digitally assembled from existing green spaces in the aerial photograph of Munich.
RULEBOOK
(12/25)
The map material is based on the city map of Munich at muenchen.de 1 in the settings, current aerial photograph in 1:5,000 resolution. Screenshots of the city area are created from this list and combined to form an aerial photograph of the city of Munich.
The sacred buildings of Munich are removed from this city map by cutting them out. The sacred buildings are selected according to the Wikipedia page ‘List of sacred buildings in Munich2 Deconsecrated buildings were not removed. Some affiliated church administrative buildings were also removed. The headquarters of Scientology in Munich was added to the list.
The resulting empty spaces are filled with parks and forests.
